When any new bit of branding hits the market, more often than not, it gets the living shit kicked out of it. Everyone becomes an armchair critic in branding and either has their comical 2 cents to add or unleashes irrational rage over change like an 80-year-old who finds out their afternoon radio show is changing to something fresh after 36 years.

So when the proverbial shit-hit-the-fan moment splattered across all forms of media this week, I’ve gotta say, I’m not surprised. Nor am I the least bit concerned by the change from Twitter to 𝕏, by founder Elon Musk. And I want to explain why. Because there is no lesson to be learned from this for the rest of us other than don’t do what Elon does, simple as that.
